March 2010...

My new sewing machine have arrived! It has been a months since I had a chance to use it, not an easy machine to learn to use and still need lots of practice. I've been embroidering our names... last name... pictures... initials... etc. you name it I've done it! All around the house. Such a fun toy to have. This purchase is for my online company (O & S Boutique) use. Being able to offer more options to the customers and more I can do with the products by being able to personalize them. Below are some sample...

Sophie's Big Girl Bed!

March 29, 2010...

Long avoided day have finally came, Sophie have grown into "Big Girl" bed. After many nights and afternoons of hearing her kicking her crib, I thought she was going to break it. It has been 5 days since she have slept in her toddler bed and so far so good. Good thing she is a good sleeper. Getting her to stay in her bed before she falls a sleep can be challenging but once she falls a sleep, she never leaves her bed (oh no, shouldn't of said that, now she'll probably get out middle of the night now). But overall, it has been good transition into her toddler bed.

Sophie thought it was the coolest thing ever!!! Free to go in and out of bed!

New Venture!

About a 3 months ago in December. My friend mentioned that her son's school was having a craft fair for the holiday. After hearing/reading about it I didn't think much of it. Then about 2 weeks before the fair, I thought/asked myself why not sell my handmade items at the fair. I called my friend to get more information regarding it and after long consideration, with my friend Annie and I decided to my a booth. The fair was just what I needed to realize what I love to do in life. I love creating and making clothes and hair clips and other things as my girls needed or as my friends needed. Then another friend of my Nicole mentioned that I should try selling some of my handmade items on Etsy ( a website for people to sell handmade, vintage, and other unique items on). At first, as always, I told her...no, I don't think anyone would buy. Then I gave it a shot. I put up for sale few items and what do you know, I sold them. From then on, talking over with Tony, I decided that I'm going to get my business license. The process of getting the license easy but creating a company of my own selling my handmade items were out of this world. Today is Feb. 21, 2009 at 1:42 AM as I'm writing this.
My company has come a long way in last month. Company is online shop that sells unique personalized/handmade items, then I needed little more products to carry online to give my customers more options but I didn't want to just sell anything. I was looking for items/products that are unique and high quality. I have done lots of research and have found many but needed to select just a few to start.
On March 1, 2009 is the launch of my company website and at the moment, it is ready, just have little finishing up to do. There are times I think to myself "what are you doing" or "this could be the worst decision I have ever made". Then I remember what I have always thought and tell Olivia, if you don't try it you'll never know. Even if things don't turn out the way I wanted or wished, it is better to give it your best shot then give up or even worst not even try.
I needed to take a chance and this part of my life was a big chance, I started this and I wanted to take it as far as I can. It is very exciting yet very very scary at times. Jan. and Feb. are very busy months in Shin family. We have 4 very important days, daddy's "other" birthday, Olivia's birthday, mommy's "other" birthday and Sophie's birthday! Wow! how do I do this.

Tony's 40th Birthday! Wow! (I've been saying that alot recently). My love, friend, husband, father to my girls...turned 40 this year. We celebrated with our kids day early and it was time for mommy and daddy to have a nice long weekend in SF. I have told Tony, I was going to get a hotel in the SF and meet with one of our friend for dinner for his birthday. But I have been planning a surprise party for him. I think he was on to me when we checked into the hotel and got to our room. He walked in and asked why do need a room this big? He was looking at 12oosqf. one bedroom suite at Fairmont Hotel in SF. I told him the hotel over booked (which happens all the time!) and they didn't have any other room so they gave us this room. Not sure if he really bought it but whatever!:) Then we were off to dinner but first we needed to meet our friend. It was then all of our good friends came to the bar to surprise him. Tony was very surprise and happy to see so many good friends. We had the party in the suite by the time we went back up the event planner have changed the room into dinner setting and it was very nice evening with friends.

Happy Birthday Olivia! This year was Olivia's 4th birthday. She had all of her friends there, we had cookie making party. All the kids were able to make their own cookies to take home. She had a so much fun! She still talks about it and can't wait for her 5th birthday. Slow down my big girl, don't grow up too fast.

Happy Birthday Sophie! You're 2!

Sophie had her birthday party at The Little Gym and was so happy to share the day with her family and friends. The party was mainly for all friends her age and it was PREFECT! I didn't have to worry that she was going to get run over by the big kids, which happens. All the little babies in her playground where and had a great time. They played with bubbles, balls...and more. And the cake part was the best party.

Last 6 months have came and gone but so many memories have been made. Keeping up with my 2 girls, starting a new adventure for me and my loving hubby turned 40! Wow! what a way to start the year... So here it goes:... let's go back in time to...

...Aug. 2009 - Family vacation to Las Vegas. Whole new way of visiting Vegas, everyone has such a wonderful time. We for sure going to make this trip our annual family vacation. It was nice to visit Vegas in a different way, a good way.

Olivia riding a horse for the first time. We were visiting a friend who own horses and it was so nice for the girls to have this chance to get close to the horses and really enjoy touching, feeding and riding them.

...Sept. 2009. - Olivia started new Preschool at Blue Oaks, she's happy to have many friends she already know as well as have meant many new friends.

...Oct. 2009 - Halloween! What kid doesn't love this holiday, this year Olivia ask to be Mulan. Mulan is her favorite princess and Sophie was cupcake, hearing mommy's handmade cupcake costume.

...Nov. 2009 - The day was finally here! All those mornings and days of training, I have completed my first Half Marathon on Nov.1, 2009. Wow what a feeling, I had my doubts and I had my moments of not wanting to finish but with good friend/company next to you pushing you to complete, it was the best feeling and emotional feeling I had in long time.

...Dec. 2009 - Ran my first marathon relay race with 3 other wonderful ladies. It was a cold cold morning.

Christmas at SHINS - this Sophie being close to 2,Christmas was so much fun. We decided not to travel so it was even better. Waking up at our home and being able to open all of our thoughtful gifts to each other then kids were actually able to play with them all day long. It was great day! Then next day we were off to Visit our families.

New Year's Eve! - This year we were lucky to share the night with friends, 3 families got together to share the night. And we were happy to have all of our kids with us.

All and all it was a great year!

July - Sophie's swim class

This summer Sophie @ 17 months old, she had started her swim Lesson, I wasn't so sure if she would like the class since she really hated getting in the water last summer, but she loved it. I couldn't get her out of the pool when class was over. It was so much better this time around.

Olivia started her swim class this month. I wasn't so sure how she was going to like the class since now that she is 3 years old she's in "Duck" class where all the kids swim alone (without a parent) just with swim teacher. After a week, she have loved it and enjoying herself a lot.

In last few months, I have done 3 races: Quarry Ponds Granite Bay 10K (June 14), Napa 10K (June 28) and Roseville 5K (July 4th).

It was tough race for me, although my time (30:45) was better than the Rocklin Run 5K (33:32) I did back in April this year. It was great running this race with my friends.

Napa 5K/10K run June 2009:

This race must of been the hottest race, not only was the day started out really early but it was getting hot pretty fast. Tony, kids and I got up 5:30 in the morning to drive out to Napa for this race. By the time I finished at 1hr:05mins, it was already 80 degrees and that's hot when you're running. This was Kelly's last 10K race in CA and Jessica's first 5K, they both did GREAT!

Quarry ponds Granite Bay 10K June 14, 2009:

My first 10K (timed 1hr:02mins) race ever in my life! After the race it felt AWESOME! My dear friend Annie came with her kids with watch me at the finish line and to take pictures of me...Thank you Annie you're awesome.

Mother's day 2009

May 10, 2009 - I had a wonderful day or should I say a week. Thanks to my wonderful friend (Nicole, a gift from one mom to other) I was able to go get a Pedi and foot massage while she was watching Sophie and when Olivia was in School. Then thanks to love of my life, husband watched the kids while I went out with few of my mommy friends to dinner to local restaurant for great food, drinks ( Cosmos special ) and Sex in the City playing while we enjoy dinner.

On mother's day, my husband and brother in law cooked dinner for the family and G-parents Shin. It was yummy, from steak to lobster and lots of Champagne. Then Olivia and Sophie gave me beautiful gift as pretty as them, a flower plant that I can grow and little something they made and from Olivia she made at school. All and all, it was wonderful day!

Run 5K Rocklin, CA Race

April 26, 2009 - This was my 2nd 5K Race. With my first race I didn't do much of running ( I came in 45 minutes), it was more to support the cause. For this race, it was for the cause as well as to set a goal for myself to run faster. My mommy friends and I got together twice a week to get ready for the race. Being able to run together with friends helped me achieve my goal to come in under 35 minutes. Thanks to my awesome family (my kids and husband) who gave me the chance to do this and to the friends who share this experience this with me, you're all my inspiration. Now most of us (Annie, Kelly, Nicole and I) are getting ready to run the half Marathon in November this year, wish us luck. (all the pictures are taken by Nicole Fields)

April 2009-- Mini family vacation to Seattle. We had a great time showing the girls Seattle and hanging out with dear old friend Carlee. We had a full day everyday we were there, visit to Seattle aquarium, Kids discovery Museum (a must place to visit if you have kids), Space Needle...etc, all the usually places.

April 2009--- Olivia and I had a chance to hang out alone in San Francisco. It was most wonderful time we had. We were gone from 10am and didn't get back to my parents house until 10pm. What a day it was!

Trip to Reno

April 2009-- We packed up the family for our one last trip up to see the snow, this time we headed to Reno to visit family. It was relaxing yet eventful trip. Olivia got on her first skis and she did wonderfully, Sophie had a melt down at the snow, they both had a great time with their cousin Bubba (aka Elliotte).

April 2009 - Every year girls playgroup have Easter egg hunt, this year was no different. We had the event at a local park, the weather turned out great it was nice and warm and all the kids had so much fun.

2.21.2009 -- was Sophie's first birthday. Here are some pictures of Sophie's first year and pictures from her birthday party. Every year kids playgroup get together to celebrate special holidays, such as Valentine's Day. This year was no different, this year we had two events, pre V-day card making at Annie's house and V-day party hosted by Kelly at her house. 2-5-09 After along week of Mommy being sick, we tried to make the best of being at home. Today Olivia wanted to sing me a song before bedtime. On 1.21.2009 Sophie turned 11 months old. I can't believe she'll be one in just one month. This year has come and gone...I have to remember to take it slow and really enjoy the time with her. Before I know it, she'll be off to college.

1.23.2009--- Today was Olivia's first day of her dance class. She have taken a Ballet class before but parental participation was required, but not this time. Dance The Little Gym Way is a unique combination of ballet, tap, creative movement and gymnastics and parents can only watch from a window.
The class only had four girls in it and it was so much fun watching Olivia as well as other girls. One of Olivia's good friend Jordan is also in the class and when they saw each other they were so happy. They were hanging around each other watching each other, but they also listened to the teacher very well. Here are some pictures from the class...

Today turned out to be very warm day which was great for Olivia so she could wear her pretty princess dress to the party. HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVIA!

Wow! what a year, this year has come and gone. I can't believe Olivia is 3 years old today. We have been building up to today for last few days and it's finally here. As it is midnight, she is asleep but when she gets up we'll be enjoying her birthday start with opening the gifts of course and some breakfast then we'll be off to her and Gabe's birthday party at Pump It up.

2008 New Year

12.31.2008 -- we drove up to Tahoe City where we and the Reynolds spent the new year's eve and next 5 days together. We have known the Reynolds for awhile and this time was our first time to take a family vacation together. Overall, think it went well, the kids played well together...well as much as they could and it was nice to hang out with our friends, which was long over due. Also, January is a busy month, while we were there we celebrated the New Year, Tony's birthday on the 2nd and Tim's birthday on the 3rd, which was main reason why we wanted to take this trip.
I think the person who enjoyed the trip the most is Olivia, it snowed on Friday and she really liked looking out the window and wanted to spend all day outside. She only wanted to come in for was HOT COCOA! She and I made snowman and snow angel. And her and daddy made snow castle and her princess snow chair. At night we played with legos and reading books...just relaxing before kids went to bed.
It was fun guys...we'll plan the next family trip and hope it'll be just as fun.

2008 Christmas

This year we hosted the Christmas dinner at our house. It was so nice to be home for the girls to enjoy what is like to wake up on Christmas day and see all the presents under the tree. It was such a nice gift of all. Tony did most of the cooking, he cooked his first Turkey for the family and it turned out great....hummmmm, it was good. Here are some pictures from the day

12.19.2008--Do you believe? Hope so. We went on The Polar Express Train ride in Old Sacramento, CA. We...well Olivia have been waiting for this all week. I've told her not too early, but week before the train ride about Polar Express and she started watching the movie on Monday. We had movie night almost every night after dinner, she really got into it and had so many questions. It was so much fun for her and as well as for me...I have say:-) Here are some pictures to share.

Santa gave her a bell, then she was showing it to (the guy on top of the train, forgot his name) and he took it away.

He was giving it back to her and she got soooooo sad she started crying. Poor thing she thought he really took it away.

Preschool Christmas Party

Rocklin Preschool- Today was last day of Olivia's Preschool, she is out of school for winter break. They had a Christmas party where Santa came for visit and had asked all the kids if they have been good or bad. Olivia got a chance to meet with Santa and have her picture taken with him. She was soooooooo excited when she saw him, she have been writing him a letter everyday that she have been good girl then telling him what she would like to have for Christmas. It was nice to see how excited kids are about Christmas, awwwwww....joy of being young!

Trip to Spring TX

After Thanksgiving, Me and the girls with my mom took a short trip to TX to visit my brother. This was Olivia's 2nd trip there, she was only 10 months the last time we were there and Sophie's first trip. Traveling with two kids on a 4 hour flight was not fun. Reason there is no pictures of us on the plane, I didn't get a chance to take one. The flight was too long and Sophie was crying about 2 hours (and if you know Sophie, she dosen't cry much). It will be very long time until I get on another long flight with 10 months old and almost 3 year old again. 2 hours is all I can handle...and them too.

Thanksgiving 2008

Thanksgiving in Folsom - with Tony's family. We went over to Tony's parent's house in Folsom as soon as we could, kids were still in there PJ's. It was slow relaxing day. We were there right in time for lunch and had great food, which was mostly cooked by my father in-law. He makes the best Turkey. We pretty much ate all day long and was able to take a nap when the girls were napping:-) awwww...that's what I love about holidays. Olivia loves to play in their backyard, given that it's about 10 times bigger than ours.

Thanksgiving in Cupertino/Campbell - with my parents. Next day, day after Thanksgiving we drove down to bay area to my parents house in Campbell and off to visit my oldest sister in Cupertino. Every year San Jose Downtown, about 15 minutes away, they have Christmas in the park. We were busy most of the morning so we were able to go at night with Olivia to visit the park and to visit my sister who has a cafe right next to the ice skate ring. Sophie was hanging out with my parents at their house, at night gets too cold that we didn't want to bring her out in the cold....next year Sophie:-)

Red Car

Christmas came little early for one little girl at Shin family. Daddy got Olivia a power car for Christmas and when it came in the mail a lot earlier than we thought, Tony couldn't wait to put it together for his little girl. This car came with remote control so we are able to control where and how she drives in case she goes the wrong way or couldn't control it.

In the morning Olivia was able to take her new car out for a drive and she was very very happy little girl. Now I hope she doesn't think this will be the car she'll be getting when she gets her driver's license. She'll be buying her own car :-). Merry Christmas Olivia!

11.14.2008- We went down to Bay Area, where I'm from, to visit family and friends. Olivia and I had a short visit with our friends Sherry, Julia and Andrea. Sherry and I meet in Roseville mommy group and then her family moved down to Santa Clara. But happy to say we were able to keep in contact and see each other whenever we can. Luckily, our plans worked out this time and were able to hang with them. It was so nice to see Olivia and Julia play together after all these years, they are both going to be 3 in Jan. 2009. They played like time have never passed and as if they have been playing everyday together. It is so nice to have friends like that for me and for Olivia.

Jelly Belly Beans anyone...

11.11.2008 - I've been wanting to go visit the Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield for awhile and today was the day. I packed up some snacks and we were on our way. It's about an hour away from Roseville. Sophie was sleeping most of the drive and Olivia was playing with her toys in the car. Have to say, they both did really well for such a long drive in the morning.

Ok, I don't know what Tony and I were thinking when we got her this new bike in the start of rain season. She have been wanting one and thank you to Grandparents Kim here it is. They wanted to get her one early in the year but she was still little to short for it so we waited. Now that winter is here and rain season has started she was only able to ride it twice...so sad. Olivia got to pick out which bike she wanted, she was so excited when daddy finished putting it together.

My very good friend Carlee who lives in San Francisco came up for a visit. We used to live in the same flat and can't believe it that was 8 years ago, where dose time go. The family had a great time, it was so nice to see her. I wished I took more pictures, I was so busy talking and talking that I forgot to get some good shots.

Happy Halloween! This year, I've decided to make both Olivia and Sophie's Halloween costumes. After Olivia changing her mind about what she wants to be. I've waited until last minute to finish her costume. Then she decided she didn't want to be Snow White anymore (if you have a 2 year old at home, you know what i mean, she must of have changed her mind about what she wanted to be so many times) and now she wanted to be Cinderella. Too little too late my dear, it was one day before Halloween and I wasn't going to make her a whole new costume or buy one. So, I went out and bought some Halloween princess make up to put on her at the last minute. I knew this will get her to wear her dress. She loved it and couldn't wait to wear her dress and show it to her friends. As for Sophie, I went with Pink Flower. I went out and bought the green shirt then made the flower to go around her face. It was simple yet so cute.

At Olivia's preschool they asked all the kids to be dressed in Orange and Black to make it easy for the kids. It was a FUN day for the kids. They got to practice how to go Trick or Treat. Photography Lesson #1

This is the story how Photo lesson started. I normally take Sophie to Sears to get her monthly pictures, visit after visit whenever I come out of there I always asked myself why do I go there. My last visit to get Sophie's 8 months pictures, I had enough of Sears..."NO MORE" I HATE them, yes hate is strong word but I really mean it. I decided I'm going to try to take them myself. Then I got really sad. I didn't know where to start. So I thought I'll ask my great Photographer friend Nicole, who have been takeing our family pictures for years to give me a simple lesson that I can try myself. Now, that is not easy, I know since I'm not very good at these things. But all and all, she was great teacher and I had so much fun learning it. I can't wait for our next lesson after I do some more practice shots of my own . Here are few shots, it came out somewhat good:-)

A day as Preschool student

10.28.2008 -- Of all days, I forgot to bring my camera these were taken from my phone.

My mom was in town so I thought this was my chance to volunteer for Olivia's preschool. I've always wanted to see what goes on at school. I didn't know if Olivia was going to be OK with me being there. Didn't know if she'll like it or not or if she'll just hang out with me all day and don't do anything, but as soon as she knew I was going to be there she went off and did her own thing. First hour they free play, art, dress up, color, play with toys or look at books. Then once everyone have finished their art, it was story time. After story time it was snack time. Then once everyone finished eating they have to get in line to go outside to play. I have to say, during all this time, I couldn't believe how well these kids behaved. It was lots of fun to watch and play with so many kids.

Family pumpkin Patch day

This year we went to two pumpkin patch, one with our playgroup as family and another with just the girls. The first one we went as family, The day started not so well and I was hoping it'll get better. Someone (Olivia) didn't get a good night sleep and got up at 6:30am, that's pretty early, she usually gets up between 7:30 and 8am. She wasn't too happy, but when we told her we were going to pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins for the family she got really excited. But when we got there, it was different story. Let's just say, we left after being there for maybe an hour. I was so sad it came to this point, no time out in the car was going to make this trip any better.:-( Oh well, there is always next year.

The second one we went with just the girls was a better trip (everyone was happy:-) We picked out pumpkins this time, went on a hayride and saw some farm animals.

Visit to the Dentist

10.15.2008 -- Olivia had her annual dentist check up today. No Cavity and now she is member of "no cavity club." She did great even through the teeth cleaning. Next visit she'll need to get a x-ray, that's not fun...even for mom.

New Play area for Sophie

It has been weeks since I have been thinking about getting some kind of gate for Sophie. Now that Sophie is moving around lot more and faster, it was getting little hard to keep her away from things she can get hurt or shouldn't touch. Mostly I wanted to give Olivia some space to do her "big girl" activities without Sophie wanting to eat them or touch it. After hours of research on the web, I decided to get this play area. It is lot bigger than a playpen and we can move the gate around to other area if we need to. When we set it up, Sophie was having lots of fun playing with the toys and then Olivia really wanted to go in and play with her. Think Olivia was having more fun playing house in it then Sophie was. Let's hope this will work for days to come....

Jessica's baby shower

10.12.08- today was Jessica baby shower. It was in Granite Bay, CA at a cute little restaurant call Spoons. It is little hard to find but it is will wroth it. The food was great and nice place to relax for lunch.
Jessica is expecting her 2nd baby, she wanted to be a surprise so no one knows the sex of the baby, which makes it little hard to shop for the baby. Besides getting her something from her registry I really wanted to make her something she would like and will use daily with "baby Porter." Then of course I couldn't decide which color to go with because I didn't know the sex, I kept asking her what color is the nursery and what theme she was going with. Sorry Jess for asking so many questions. After I made her a pillow and a stroller blanket, I really loved it, it was one of my best work. I couldn't wait to show her and see if she likes it. I hope you liked it Jess. I can't wait to meet the little bundle of joy.

Sushi making night

After my friend Nicole had her 2nd baby boy Grant, I made sushi dinner for her and her family and she loved. Then her husband Dan thought it would be fun if I had a night where I can teach her and other moms in our mommy group how to make sushi. I thought it was great idea. I invited some friends from my mommy group over for dinner and they had to make their own sushi dinner. Tony took the kids to his parents house for the night while the big girls (moms) enjoy a night without kids. It turned out to be so much fun. Everyone made one roll each of CA roll, Tempura roll and cucumber roll. For just $10 each, there were so much food left, everyone took some back home with them. I hope everyone have as much fun as I did. Thanks Dan for great idea.

10.9.2008- Sophie is now 7 months and 3 weeks old and got her first 2 teeth. She was so cute when I was trying to take a picture and make her laugh so I can get a shot. Also, I've been feeding her rice cereal and wanted to give her something new to eat, so I gave her a jar of carrots and she wasn't so sure what to think of it.

Olivia got her first haircut. It was time to cut off her baby hair, it was getting too long and unhealthy. I have told her she was getting a haircut after school, I didn't know how she was going to react. We went to Lollipop Cuts, they are known for kid friendly space and getting a lollipop after the haircut. She seem very excited and when we got there she was even more excited. When she walked in she saw all the different chairs she can sit, car...jeep..etc. Before we were inside the door, she said right away, she wanted to sit in the "pink airplane." She did really well, no tears.

I have been wanting to make a dress for Olivia for awhile and as usual one night after putting the girls to bed, I decided to try it out. I got a fabric I really liked and I was very excited to try. It took me 3 hours, for my first try making any type of dress. It turn out ok. When she saw it in the morning she was so happy, couldn't wait to try it on. The weather was finally cool today, so I took the girls to The Fountains mall for little shopping and playing. Funny we ran into Jenny, Chole & Sam at a store, so we had the girls paly at the water park area and playground. Then we had lunch with our friends and 12pm Jenny and I were off to take the girls home for their naps. But not before the train rain:-)

Than after nap, we went to the library but it was closed. Olivia wanted to play outside before going home.

Olivia have been asking if she can go to Chuck E. Cheese and we did go about month ago and they took all the games chairs I mean everything out of the space so we thought they were moving. Tony and I were little happy, since we don't like the food there, more for the rides and games. We kept telling her CEC moved and one day we were going home and saw that there were lots of cars there. So we wanted to see if it was open and sure enough it was.

We didn't think Sophie would have so much fun but I think she had more fun than Olivia. Fun Videos.

I went to visit my very best friend Rosi who WAS...yes WAS very pregnant. I just found out today she just had her baby on Tuesday 9/23/08 I believe in the morning little over 6lbs, a baby boy!. Congrats to the family! When I saw her it was couple of days before she had the baby on Sunday, so sad I didn't get to see the baby. Thanks to Annie's inspiration to dust out my sewing machine, yes...I sew, it might be little shock to few people who might read this. I've been working on couple of projects for her. She loved it when I gave them.

The day of the Race of Cure SF

The day has finally come. I left home on Saturday alone, we had some schedule conflict and I ended up having to go alone, it was nice but I really missed my 3 babies:-) Next year, I'll make them come. I'm off to SF to meet with my friend Barbara. We decided to keep it low key, went out for a drink, dinner and went to see a movie (since that's hard to do) "The Women" (it was ok, I would wait for DVD ladies if you were planning on seeing it). We were back in hotel by around 11pm. It has been over 2 years since I've seen her, so we were talking away, but by 12:30am I was so tired I needed to go to bed. On Sunday, we got up at 7am, got ready and got a cup of coffee then walked out to Ferry Building. The walk was great, there weren't too many people out on Sunday morning. The weather was cool, it was nice change from home 80 by 8am (too hot). We got all the registration done and was ready to go. The real runners were off at 9 and runners/walkers at 9:15, by the time we were ready to go, one of the real runner came in that would be less than 15 minutes for him to run 3 miles. Since we weren't timed Barbara timed us and said it took us total 40minutes, which was not bad I would say. Next year, I'll be really running....will we'll see!:-)

2 days til the race...my walking buddy

My friend Annie is my walking buddy. We meet at least 2 or 3 times a week to go for a walk together, some days I take the girls or just Sophie if Olivia's in school. Last couple of weeks I've been walking almost everyday to get fit and to get ready for the Race for cure in SF.
One day I decided I'm going to walk to Safeway, then to Veteran's park and back home taking the trail, which it took me 3 hours total. I started out running from home to Safeway, that was about 30minutes (with waiting at the lights), then picked up lunch and snack for Olivia (that took about 20 minutes), then off to Veteran's park. At this point the weather was getting hotter and hotter, it took 45 minutes to get to the park, by now it's way too hot to play at the park and Olivia and Sophie was sleeping. So I called Jessica who I was going to meet at the park at 10:30am, it was too HOT and we should just go to Starbucks. So I was off to go home, but this time I was taking the trail back home. The trail is little longer since it goes up around all the houses and down again(it was going to be about an hour walk home). On the way home it started out pretty good since both girls were asleep then when I realized how long I have been walking and how much more I have to walk. Every step got harder and harder then I was thinking " I'll never do this again." I have about 20 minutes away from home and by now I was done! I almost was going to call Jessica to come and help me! But kept telling myself, you can do it! Then both girls woke up from their sleep, now about 10 minutes away from home, they both started crying because it was getting close to Sophie's feeding time and Olivia had enough riding in the stroller. At that moment, I just wanted to CRY too!. Finally we were home.

I was glad I did this walk because I felt great after, very very very tired....did I mention very tired, but still glad at least I tried . I did take a break next day.

9/17/08- Sophie had her 6 months check up. She weights 19.6.2 oz. (89% percentile) and 27 inc. in Height (77% Percentile). She is healthy growing baby. Overall she always do well at any doctors visits, but not so happy when she got her 3 shots at this check up. Olivia was with us at this time, I usually try to go alone, wanting to make it all Sophie's appt., but she was great sister. When Sophie was getting ready for her shots, she kept telling Sophie..."you'll be ok." I thought Olivia might cry when she sees Sophie getting the shots and when Sophie started crying but she was good. She kept giving Sophie a hug and still saying, you'll be ok. What a great sister, I'm happy Sophie has such a great sister to look after her. Mommy love you both sooooo much!:-)

Race for Cure...in 5 days

9/16/08- Today I received my number for the San Francisco Komen Race for the Cure® I'm doing on 9/21/08. I'm very excited and have been doing alot of walking/running with and without my girls. I'm ready to go. As of today I've raised $190, more than halfway to my fundraising goal of $250. Thanks to my friends and family for their support. Sophie's room...

Now Sophie's 6 months old and her crib is still in our masterroom. Tony started getting it ready right after she was born in Feb. 2008. He have finished painting it, now I have to decorate the room. OK, I'm not really big on decorating a room. I can try to do a little, but not very good or really enjoy doing it. But since I spend so much time and energy doing Olivia's room, I feel like I should do the same for Sophie. But I'm so done and it has taken me this long to get start on Sophie's room.
At this point I really want her out of my room, nothing bad, I just want my room back. Those of you who have kids and had them in your room knows what I'm talking about. Not being able to walk around (so many baby things or watch TV before bed)...it sucks.

This is as far as I've come...any ideas anyone???? Let me know what you think. The pictures below don't do justice to the paint color of the wall, it's more of teal green. The picture without the flash is more like the paint color. I'll be putting in her white crib, white bookshelf, that's about it for now.

Swim class...9-09-08

I signed Sophie up for Swim class in the evenings at 6pm for 3 weeks every other day, at the time I signed her up it seemed like it was a good time frame. Then when the time came for her class, on the first day she felt asleep in the pool with me holding her, I thought even though her nap time was at 6pm, if she was in the water she wouldn't take her nap. But I guess I was wrong. Maybe she liked it even more being in the water.
It seemed as it was pointless to keep her in the class and have her sleep during the class, so I changed it to Olivia. This will be Olivia's 2nd time being in the class. She is having a great time swimming with daddy.
With 2 days left of class, now Sophie's nap time have changed yet again and she gets up right before the class just in time. But I think it's little too late now to change...sorry honey, next summer.

Komen San Francisco Race for the Cure®

With my two girls I'm joining my friend Barbara for 5k Run/Walk for Susan G. Komen race for cure for breast cancer research. Today I started getting ready for the run. I feel great to be able to do this. Thankfully I don't know anyone close to me who have or is going through breast cancer, but there are so many women everyday who does. Barbara's Aunt just found out she has breast cancer, more the reason why I wanted to do this. I also wanted to start teaching my two girls how nice it is to give to others, I know they are way too young to understand but it never hurts to start early. Any support would help, but don't feel obligated or feel bad if you can't. Check back to see my run progress to get ready for the race ( will try to put some pictures up, but since when I'm running it's usually just Olivia and Sophie in the jogging stroller and I, it's hard:-) maybe next time I'll stop someone and ask .)

Olivia's Preschool update

It has been 3 weeks since Olivia started preschool on Aug. 19, 2008. She is doing wonderful. I've noticed there have been changes since she started school. Her vocabulary has grown, she shares better, she listens well, and she plays on her own better, just to name a few. Other day, she was playing with her dolls and animals, she was asking them "who wants snack, raise your hand" which it's something I never say. I asked her who says that she said her teacher dose when it's snack time.

It was hard at first, I remember she cried every time I dropped her off. It made me feel so bad, I use to double guess myself, if I was doing the right thing. Then on the 4th day of school, she said in the car on the way to school. Mommy, I won't cry (which she have said before and still cried). When it was time for me to leave she said "I'll see you in an hour"(that's what I tell her when I leave so she knows I'll be coming back to pick her up). She looked little sad but no tears (not yet I was thinking), then I gave her a kiss and a big hug and said "I'll see you when school is finished and I'll pick you up." Still no tears, I left and NO tears. Can this be, I was so happy. Such a little thing can make a so much difference.

This had made a huge impact in my life, just getting good 2 hours to myself to do whatever I want, it has been great. Most of the time, after I drop Olivia off, Sophie naps. One day I went to get some coffee and Sophie was a sleep. So I decided to stay until she gets up, I was able to drink a cup of coffee with no interruption and actually read a newspaper. Life is great! I feel like I'm a better Mom to both of them and have I mentioned "life is great!:-) big smile

Went to the park to meet up with Tony's Cousin Kim and the family. Kim just had a baby girl in April (Faith) and she also has 5 year old daughter Ruby. It was nice seeing them. Olivia and Ruby was playing in the water park area while Kim, Randy and I were chatting about how life is now with two girls and how much sleep they are getting...wait let me correct that, how much sleep they are NOT getting. Olivia had a great time, the next day she was still talking about the day and telling me how she played with her cousin Ruby. And she asked if she can ask Ruby to come over and play with her. We'll need to do this more often. Great seeing everyone!

Tony was off work today and we were going to take the girls to Funderland but found out it was closed. So we had a late start in the morning. I thought it would be fun to take Olivia to feed the ducks. Now, if you haven't known, I don't like ducks or birds. I'm very afraid of them and I don't even let them come close to me. So it was pretty big deal that I do this with Olivia. It worked out, since we were able to feed the ducks from the bridge and the ducks weren't able to get close to me. I know, you ask why didn't Tony do it? Well, Tony's afraid of the heights. ( so we don't do this very often) Poor kids. Olivia had a great time, even if we had to throw the bread in between the hole of the gate.

Then we walked over to the park, where Olivia had fun running around and Sophie was sleeping and finally got up to enjoy the swing.

Aug. 21, 2008- today Sophie turned 6 months old. I can't believe how fast 6 months has gone by. It has been fun yet busy busy. As a stay at home mom, there sure are days I'd do anything to go back to work but it is so nice to be around both of my kids and watch them grow. In last 6 months, Sophie has learn to turn over, is crawling, sitting up and eating solid baby food. What a mile stone.

@9am. Olivia's 1st day of Pre-Preschool. As a parent you never know if your baby girl is ready for school. She did really well getting ready for it and once we got there she was happy to see her friend Jordan, then started playing. But when it was time for me to leave :-( She started crying...it is so hard to hear your baby crying. I had to not look back and just walk out. The teacher said she cried for about 5 minutes and started playing and did really well.

Trip to SF for mommy's (21st) birthday (again)

Aug. 2, 2008 was my birthday, we went to celebrate the day in San Francisco. One of Tony and mine's favorite place to go with the girls and alone. I got to have yummy cake from "Miette patisserie." If you have not been there, you got to try it. It is so good.

For being alone/only baby in the house for 2 years, Olivia is making an adjustments having new baby in the house. She is great mommy's little helper, although she dose have her moments of crying, wanting attention all to herself and still wanting my help when she can do it by herself. My little helper!

I use to think when I had Olivia, I would never forget these moments and all that comes with having a baby. Sure enough, I have forgotten a lot and how hard/much work it is to take care of a baby. Moments like these makes it sooooo rewarding.

Trip to Six Flags

This was our first trip to amusement park and was not sure if Olivia would enjoy it or just hate it. Also, our test to see if Olivia would enjoy going to Disneyland in the fall. Tony and I concluded that she is ready for it but we're NOT ready.

To start off the 4th of July, Olivia, Sophie and I were enjoying the morning with our friends the day before. On the 4th, we were hanging out with Shin Grandparents at their house. We bought a box of fireworks for the girls to see, but the loud noise was too scary for Olivia. So we decided to enjoy the fireworks from inside the house by the window. Maybe next year will be better.

Children’s Discovery Museum in San Jose

We made a trip to CDM in San Jose, this place is great. I used to take my little Nephew when he was little, now he is 17 years old. Olivia Loved being there. We must of spend 3 hours and it seemed like she could of played longer if we didn't have to go. She loved that she can touch everything she sees, make objects and play with anything she want. If you have kids and have not been there, you have to make a trip there.

Olivia is 2 and 1/2 years old as of July 2008. She loves to color and work on her puzzle. As of now she still loves to watch Barney. She will be starting preschool this fall, Aug. 19, 2008. I'm very excited yet sad that she is growing up so fast.

Our friends from Chico and San Francisco came over for a visit and to meet Sophie sometime in April. It was so great to see them, it's always nice to have our friends visit us out here. Olivia turned 2 on Thursday January 10th, 2008. She had a great time thanks to all of her friends and family who came to celebrate her birthday. All the kids and parents had fun signing and dancing along with the Music lady. It was great start for the year.

July 21th, 2008, at 5 months she weights about 17 lbs. She learned to turn at about 3 months and now she is slowly but surely crawling. She is still learning to sit up.

Sophie was born Feb. 21, 2008. After 10 hours in Labor, the delivery only took about 30 minutes. Sophie was 7lbs. and 7oz. 20 inc. long.
